SPEED RAYO ZOOMS TO WIN SECOND SUCCESSIVE NATIONAL RACING TITLE

Rayomand Banajee put in a fine performance in both races of the last round of the National Formula Hyundai Championship to win his 2nd successive National Formula Racing Title.

He also created a new record wherein he has finished each and every race of the year in this category on the podium (1st, 2nd or 3rd).

En route to his second National Formula Racing title, Rayo bagged 8 pole positions and 6 victories and amazingly he has finished each & every race of the National Formula Hyundai on the podium. His worst qualifying position and race finish has been a third!

Said Rayo after the race "I owe this Championship to the team and my sponsors – Speed, CINTHOL & Valvoline"

More about the Races

1. In race 1, Rayo got off to a good start from the pole position and pulled away from the rest of the field in the first few laps. Thereafter he paced himself well to finish ahead of the Chennai drivers Ajay Kini & Ashwin Sunder. The scorching pace set by him in the first few laps was enough to give him the fastest lap of the races.
2. Race 2 proved to be a thriller. Rayo lost the lead to Ashwin Sunder. The next few laps Rayo had to fend off a stiff challenge from behind and even fell momentarily to fifth. Rayo soon moved into 3rd and thereafter had a tough time overtaking Rao from Bangalore. Rayo was even pushed off the track and had all wheels in the air at one stage, on corner 5. Eventually Rayo finished 2nd, ahead of Coimbatore driver C. Rajaram.

Championship Classification–

1st - Rayomand Banajee (110 points). 2nd - Ajay Kini (79 points). 3rd – Ashwin Sunder (54 points)
