KONERU HUMPY seeded 3rd at the forthcoming Women’s World Chess Championship 2006

Grandmaster Koneru Humpy, who lost in the semifinals of the Last World Women's chess Championship, is a strong contender for the Coveted Title of Women's Chess Champion.
Brussels, 9th February , 2006. India’s Grandmaster Koneru Humpy has been seeded NO 3 in the forthcoming Women’s World Chess Championship to be held at Ekaterinburg in Russia from 10th to 27th March 2006.
Koneru Humpy, who lost to Ekaterina Kovalevskaya in the semifinals of the last Championship held at Elista in Kalmakya in 2004 will be accompanied by Wgm S. Vijayalakshmi and S Meenakshi .
The Reigning World Women’s Champion Bulgaria’s Grandmaster Antoaneta Stefanova is the Top Seed followed by Russia’s International master Ekaterina Kovalevskaya who lost to Stefanova in the Finals.
All the top names in the world of women’s Chess like Former World Champion Maya Chiburdanidze, Former World Junior Champion 2004, Ekaterina Korbut,, Reigning World Junior Champion Elizabeth Paehtz,
Alisa Galliamova , Xu Yuhua, Alexandra Kosteniuk , Zhu Chen and Zhao Xue will be part of the 64 member Knock out championship.
