GULF DIRT TRACK NATIONAL CHAMPIIONSHIP 1ST ROUND - MANGALORE 15TH & 16TH APRIL 2006

MANGALORE 16th April 2006 : The first round of Gulf Dirt Track National Championship for 2-wheelers took off at Mangalore.
This event was sponsored by Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd and organised by Sportscraft in association with Mangalore Motor Sports Association , the first event in a series of five legs, was held under the aegis of the FMSCI.
Shree. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police – Mangalore graced the occasion and flagged off the event at 9:00 a.m. on the 16th of April.
The spectators came in full force to cheer their friends and relatives. Dress in colorful Sunday Special they added colour to the event. The motor sport enthusiast stormed towards the B. Yenepoya School Premises where the dare devils on their 2 – wheelers were to show their skills.

As the event took off there was lots of applaud from the crowd as they were thrilled to see the spectacular event and a great competition. As much as the spectators enjoyed the competitors were more charged competing and gave excellent performance.

More than the prize money, a lot of which was distributed at the end of the event, it was the glory and honor that spurred the participants on to great displays of thrilling two wheeling. And of course the fact that the points earned in this leg will add to the total points at the end of the five legs, making or breaking the hopes of the would-be champion

The event was organised to the perfection and was spectacular show. The credit goes to Mr. Shrikant Karani of Sportscraft for his detailed work and the team of Mangalore Motor Sports Association who worked to make this event a great success.

This was a clear day of victory for C. S. Santhosh from TVS Racing Team in Foreign Motorcycle upto 250cc class and has accumulated 37 points. Arvind K. P proved a cut above all in Local class.

Shamim Khan from Nasik was fastest on his Kinetic Marvel in the scooter class. The newcomer Hafeeur Rehman from TVS Racing Team proved his skills in the Novice Class on his TVS Victor and accumulated 20 points. Rustom Patel of Mumbai on his TVS Sholin proved his skills once again in the Private expert class and has already bagged in 37 points.
The event stayed upto the expectations of the Mangalorians’ who look forward to various motor sporting events and take part in competing as well as watching the event same with full strength.
This was the first round of Gulf Dirt Track National Championship. The next round will be held at Coimbatore on 22nd & 23rd July.
