TAROT THERAPY
– A NEW PARADIGM OF PROFOUND HEALING

(article by Swati Prakash, Founder, Tarot India Network)

Tarot Cards…best known for fortune telling…are in-fact tools to help us in various facets of human experience… .some of their applications include creativity building, problem solving, planning, psychological counseling, personal development, spiritual realization and also transformative healing and energy work.

A set of cards, usually 78 in number, with a certain unique pattern that distinguishes them from ordinary cards, Tarot has come into the forefront as a tool for predictions and forecasts. This however undermines the powerful usage of Tarot to add to our personal wellbeing, spiritual health and development.

The time is ripe to create an atmosphere for a better and more comprehensive understanding of tarot and its applications.

Tarot is basically a mystical system or path containing several keys to enlightenment and self development. Of the 78 cards in a standard deck, 22 are called Major Arcana (greater mysteries) and the remaining 56 cards constitute the minor arcane (lesser mysteries). The Minor Arcana is subdivided into four suits such as Swords, Wands, Cups and Coins, much like the suits of Spades, Clubs, Hearts and Diamonds in regular playing cards. In effect the 78 cards are symbolic of the five elements, Air (Suit of Swords), Fire (Suit of Wands), Water (Suit of Cups), Earth (Suit of Coins) and Spirit (Major Arcana). So far the use of Tarot Cards has largely been focused on knowing and predicting future events. However with the help of tarot cards we understand the various manifestations of the cosmic energy and the way it operates within us and through us.

It is neither a dark art nor related to the so called black-magick of any kind.

In-fact the imagery and the underlying essence of Tarot can be used for uplifting and betterment of ourselves.

How?

By making us more aware of our selves, the issues and opportunities around us and the strengths and problems within us…

Tarot helps us know our-‘Self’.

A new understanding emerges with a breakthrough perspective and with the awakening and refinement of our intuition. This understanding gives us the power to transform our selves and our world through this higher state of awareness …. leading to profound healing.

Tarot takes us through an understanding of our self limiting perspectives, our mundane anxieties and mental stress. When we understand them can we transcend them.

As we discover our true nature, the purpose, the cause and effects behind our apparent behaviors and our essence and experiences as multidimensional beings, we are becoming more and more open to new ways of thinking.

Spirituality and mysticism are once again coming back into the forefront.

We are realizing ourselves as energy beings with a certain role in the play of life.

We are also realizing that we create our own realities and experiences, including our state of health and wellbeing for a certain purpose.

Among the various alternate or complimentary systems of healing gaining prevalence today, Tarot can certainly play a vital part.

Meditation and focusing on certain Tarot cards helps us work on certain chakras. Why? Because the card images contain hidden symbolisms of the chakra system and energy flow.

Tarot is The Route….Of what? The flow of cosmic energy into this universe; down to our earthly realms…. And also the flow of our life energy upwards; from our basal and dormant state to a highly awakened and intense state….This can be practically experienced through Tarot.

Tarot helps us understand our energy flows, imbalances and blockages.

It also helps us understand the apparent circumstances, problems and solutions.

Tarot also helps us gain a higher and spiritual perspective towards our states of being.

Ultimately Tarot helps us welcome each experience in life as more joyful, natural and aware beings who are in perfect harmony with themselves and the cosmos.

We also realize how we have been interacting with and influencing the world around us and how our karmic patterns were being reflected in our mundane lives.

As aware beings we are able to transform our ordinariness into a deeply spiritual and metaphysical experience, healing the past, present and future at the same time. Not from just a philosophical perspective but an experiential and practical creation.

An Alchemy…

A synthesis of spirit and matter….Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual awareness and wellbeing…

Leading us to oneness, wholeness and completion…
