Your Past Retold
Dhara Kothari
Since childhood I have always wondered who I really was and what the purpose of my being on Earth was. I also knew that the answers existed within me and all I had to do was recognize it. Easy said than done! It took couple of decades before I came across information about past life regression.
I finally found one past life therapist on recommendation of a friend. Dr. Yuvraj Kapadia. His first session was that of pure explanation, giving a brief but complete background of what past life is all about, the methods involved and the myths of hypnotism. My second session, lasting only 30 minutes with him led me on a brief introductory hypnosis session, to get my mind familiar when the actual past life session happens. He made me look at an object on the opposite wall while lying down comfortably and made me count numbers down from 50. On every snap of his fingers I had to repeat a previous number, before proceeding where I had left of. I fumbled at least three times, which is okay and before I came down to last ten I was literally drowsy. Dr. Kapadia led me deeper into my own mind via imaginary steps and drifting on clouds. That's it! This session ended, it was enough for my subconscious mind to recognize his voice and be on familiar grounds; oh well, at least at the subconscious level.
The third session was crucial and lasted for 90 minutes, "which is normal," Dr. Kapadia pointed out. Since I was not really traumatized, there was no need for me to check 'a' particular past life or the source of my trauma. There was only one thing I wanted to know, what on Earth am I doing here and the purpose? A random past life was what Dr. Kapadia aimed. He took me back the same way, through the same doorway. This time he did not make me turn back but allowed me to go further. I was floating on this big white cloud and this supposedly quick way of taking me back in time really helped. He asked me where I saw myself and I told him, fully aware of everything mentally, except my body, which seemed non-existent that I was at the river side. Well he told me to move from there and to go into a life I lived.
I found myself climbing the few steps of a temple. An ancient temple dating about 9th or 10th century in South India. Dr. Kapadia then proceeded to prod me with hundreds of questions, taking me to the time I died in that particular life. The events that led to my death and after. I remembered dying in the forest but was not clear about as to how? I was deeply overwhelmed with emotions because of the events that led to my death which had left a deep imprint on my soul. The rest did not matter; the smaller and insignificant things that my mind never delved on did not really matter today. What was gone was gone but the events to my death and the few months prior to my death were more important than various smaller things like the language, siblings, parents, etc. Finally Dr. Kapadia brought me back and we both were happy that I remembered such a wonderful life, which I could fully recall even after awake.
The session did leave a lasting positive impression on me. It made me realize first hand how fruitless smaller things like your daily life chores are. How unimportant certain experiences that we give such a big picture truly are. Another session with Dr. K. Newton took me on a path never visited- Astral travel. Visiting the planet Jupiter and traveling through outer space (a bright space not the normal dark space we really see) on another plane is a totally new feeling never envisaged previously. This timeless travel introduced a certain tranquility never felt before. If I had my way, I would never want to live a dreary life on Earth but prefer to travel on another dimension in a timeless adventure. Dr. Newton encourages people to go within one's self to experience what the other cannot. "Each has their own journey earmarked from their own previous experience and life is just full of trial and error and a journey of experience," says Dr. Newton. The destination is wonderful but the journey is also equally important.
