SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco)

SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) is back with a bang. Initiated by the students of (EMDI) Event Management Development Institute, SWAT is a student run movement that aims at conveying to their peers the message that Smoking Is Not Cool. We are here not to sermonize that smoking is hazardous, but to make Non-Smoking positively cool.

SWAT was launched on the 28th of October 2004. We have a distinct modus operandi which involves getting into territories conventionally associated with smoking…. Like rock music, bike rallies, parties etc… and conducting them completely smoke-free. This conveys in a fun yet effective manner that it is not necessary to light a cigarette to enjoy oneself or be considered cool.

Keeping this in mind, SWAT has already conducted smoke-free parties, a bike rally, a candle light walk and has also been a part of various college festivals such as Malhar, Kaleidoscope, Enigma etc. As part of our communication, SWAT conducted India’s first ever SMOKE-FREE rock concert “Live-N-Loud” last year. This year it plans to rock Mumbai with an elevated impact. Rock is generally associated with smoking but SWAT is here to change that perception. It is here to make non-smoking a lifestyle statement and convey that smoking is UNCOOL.

The countries top bands, VAAYU, PRAYAG, RESONANCE and BLUES THUNDER would be part of Live-N-Loud 2006 which will be conducted at the I.E.S management campus, Bandra on the 6th of April. Free passes will be available to all the students who wish to join hands with the movement against an evil called Tobacco.

SWAT reflects the face of a healthier generation, a better tomorrow. If one believes in himself and wants to see a brighter side of the horizon, here is an opportunity to make your life Live-N-Loud.
