WOMEN’S DAY – March 8, 2006
-ED-in-Chief, whitedrums.com
Every march 8, people around the world celebrate ‘Woman’s Day’. They get to be pampered and spoilt for only one miserly day, besides the birthday. Personally I feel all the 365 days are meant for woman and every 366th day that comes once in four years should be allotted to ‘Men’. Try convince that to about 50-55% of Earth’s male population.
The last fourteen years the Indian Merchant Chamber’s ladies wing has been celebrating the womanhood in all its glory. This year Ms. Meenal Kapadia, President of the ladies wing, invited five prominent ladies to discuss the changing face of womanhood and the expanding horizons. The five ladies were: Ms. Malvika Sangghvi, journalist; Ms. Shaina N.C, fashion designer and politician; Ms. Irena Krasnicka, Consul General, Czech Republic; Ms. Bakul Patel, former Sheriff of Mumbai, and a social worker and finally Ms. Zia Mody, lawyer and partner of AZB and partners.
Each speaker talked about the problems they underwent to reach where they did. The struggles, balancing career and home and the current situation for women in urban and rural India. A talk that mainly involved the five of them, while the other members were mere spectators. At the end the prizes for various quizzes cheered the members up considerably. Despite the un-inspiring talks, the women members who were present were just happy to be amongst their own, chatting to glory as is the plus point of all females.
So here’s to all the women of this planet, a big cheer from all at WHITEDRUMS.COM
As for me? I believe I am an Earthly life form, living in the vast Universe as we know
