BOMB SCARE -Dhara Kothari, Opera House, March 3, 2006.

A prankster called the police control room at about 4 P.M to give the jolt of blowing up the diamond market located at opera House, Mumbai.

"In ten minutes the caller had said that would take to activate the bomb at Panchratna and Prasad Chambers, located at Opera House," spoke the police head of the Lamington road police station. These two buildings are of prime important to the diamond market of India. The army of police came barging into these two buildings with sniffer dogs and metol detectors, but found nothing. The call had been placed by an unidentified man from Grant Road area, Mumbai.

"It is not the first time this has happend," spoke Mr. Patel, who has an office in Panchratna. Adding, "It has come to the notice of many that whenever Mr. Ramesh Daftary, a builder of sort, is included in the building's committee or the election is around, these things happen." In hush tones others who had gathered around confirmed that they suspected him to be the prankster because he has been talking around scaring people about bombs before.
Whoever is the person behind, the police has to act on such calls, least a real bomb may not just turn up in some pile of rubbish lying around in the compound. All the gates had been sealed and the security encouraged people to leave offices early. The police black sniffer dog 'lea' was a very obedient and sweet dog who checked out all the nooks and corners of the building. Finally the big drama ended by evening, when the tired dogs and men returned back to their posts.
