Transforming India's Education System – Philosophies, Principles and Processes
While addressing the members of the Chamber on "Indian Education to Meet Growth Challenges" at the Interactive Meeting held today at IMC, Dr. Partha Ghosh, MD, Partha S Ghosh & Associates, focused on transforming India's Education System – Philosophies, Principles and Processes.
Dr. Ghosh said the Indian heritage could contribute to be a great spiritual stabilizer and help India play a role at the Global level in terms of reducing gap between rich and poor, and aiding in the integration of several lines of thinking. He elucidated a 7-step process beginning with 1) building intellectual and spiritual resilience of thinking, 2) learning new language capability (at least five or six languages), 3)shifting focus from external measurement science to internal measurement of knowing the inner-self based on Vedanta, 4) change style of teaching from rote learning to thinking, 5) retrain the teachers, 6) physical architecture of the learning institutions unique to India be embraced, and 7) partnership between Industry, Government and Academia must be encouraged.
In the question-answer session, several issues were raised regarding number of languages to be learnt, process for attracting good teachers to the profession and change the mindset of youth.
Earlier Ms. Bharti Gandhi, Chairperson, Education Committee, IMC, in her welcome remarks, emphasized the need for appropriate and timely change in the revamping of the Education System so as to make it globally relevant.
M N Chaini, President (Corporate Affairs), Reliance Industries Ltd and Member, Education Committee, IMC, while introducing the speaker as a renowned thinker, highlighted Dr. Partha Ghosh's strategic problem solving experience who has specialised in developing innovative internet enabled Business Models, Corporate Strategies for restructuring and turnaround, and Convergence Led Strategy to meet competitive challenges by organizations.
