WHEN SAVERS BECOME STRANGERS

The time has gone when law and order was considered equivalent to god and its justice was as clear as Ganges water. In today’s world everything is black; everything is opposite to what it should be compared to the older times. I am saying this because I have faced many experiences that show that people who are given posts, authorities and power to save people, help people and assist people in their problems are concerned about their own benefits and don’t have a minute to think about anyone else.

One day I was going back home from college. I was sitting on a bike with my friend and we stopped at a red light. On the corner of the street there was a fruit seller who crossed the road in hurry but rushed back. The next second what I saw was really horrible; a policeman came and started thrashing the fruit seller. That fruit seller was half the age of the policeman but the policeman didn’t stop till blood started oozing out of the fruit seller’s lips, nose. After beating the fruit seller he took his bike and went away, which was a big jolt to me because I doubted whether the policeman was a saver or an enemy of the mankind. After a few days of this incident, I went to the market with my father to buy some vegetables as and when we reached a stall, two policemen (hawaldars) came and started filling their bags with mangoes and took at least 20-25 pieces of mangoes. The fruit seller did not say a word he just looked at the hawaldars for money but was not able to say anything. He just kept mum! I was amazed and was in a state of anger to see that both the hawaldars went away with the mangoes without even giving a single penny to the fruit seller. So what if they are policemen they can do anything whether it’s ethical or illegitimate.

This incident left a negative impression on my mind and I started getting scared of policemen because of what I saw in front of my own eyes, which was unjust and wrong. After this I wrote a letter to a popular newspaper so as to take some effective steps against this but nothing much could be done. What I feel is this should be stopped otherwise whatever the criminals are doing will be equal to what our protectors are doing. People will loose faith and will start taking the help of criminals which will badly effect the growth of our country. This can be stopped by strict supervision over the activities of small police officers and a survey should be conducted by higher officials of police community to find out what people have to say.

I wish you inform readers so that others can also speak against such injustice like I experienced. I am trying to make our country free from any fear, differences and injustice and there should be love, affinity, intimacy and freedom everywhere.
