New talent through myPOPKORN Creative Awards

India’s leading entertainment video-driven portal, myPOPKORN.com, a part of Digital Media Convergence Limited (DMCL) today announced the launch of myPOPKORN Creative Awards the first-of-its-kind in the history of digital media. myPOPKORN Creative Awards are aimed to provide a platform to the unrecognized creative talent in the country. The awards will not only showcase but also judge and reward the best entries.
The shortlisted entries would be evaluated by the eminent jury panel comprising of industry stalwarts; Bharat Dabholkar, theatre and media personality, Bobby Pawar, COO–Mudra Group, Punit Goenka, CEO–Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., and Vikram Bhatt, renowned director and producer.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Bhatt said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be part of myPOPKORN Creative Awards. Creative talent and fresh ideas form the fulcrum of the film & advertising industry. I am sure this DMCL initiative, will contribute significantly to the creative industry.”

Punit Goenka, CEO, ZEEL said, “myPOPKORN.com Creative Awards is another pioneering initiative in our cap. As an Organization, we have always been in the forefront of Entertainment Technology and we leave no stone unturned when it comes to encouraging creative ideas. Through these awards, we will be providing a platform to showcase the untapped creative talent in our country.”

Ishwar Jha, CEO, DMCL stated, “In less than a year of its launch, myPOPKORN.com has had a meteoric rise, ranked 17, amongst all Entertainment Web Portals in India. With our vast reach and easy uploading facilitation, myPOPKORN.com Creative Awards will surely encourage a humongous participation by upcoming creative talent.”

To enter myPOPKORN Creative Awards, participants can upload multiple entries across three categories: TVC ,Print Ad and Radio Spot starting April 9, 2009 to May 5, 2009. The winning entries will receive their due recognition in form of their work being showcased across different media platforms, TV, Print and Radio. Throwing further light on the initiative, Bharat Dabholkar said, “To maintain high standards and deliverables in the advertising industry it is imperative to encourage fresh ideas and talent. This pioneering effort through the digital medium will help achieve the same.”

Bobby Pawar, CCO, Mudra Group added, “We expect this initiative to contribute to the much needed fresh creative talent as required by the industry. Our initiative is a step to find such talent, encourage them and provide the right medium for them to showcase their work.”

Singapore Tourism, Sprite and Virgin Mobile are the brands on whom the creative ads will be designed. The winner of myPOPKORN Creative Awards Trophy in the Television category would receive 1 lakh Rupees and whats more the winning TV Advertisement would also be aired on Zee Channels. Similarly the winning Print Ads would be published in DNA and the Radio Jingle on BIG 92.7 FM. Also the winners would be felicitated at the Awards Night in the presence of the Jury Members, Media/Advertising fraternity, Celebrities, etc. during the second week of May 2009.

Despite free speech that many constitutes lawfully allow, there is still a large scale of suppression in some form or the other happening with the full support of the government.
