ACK Media is co-producing the film with Animagic studios who have designed a new look that not only reinvents the ACK comic art style for the world of 2D animation but change the audience perception of the mythology features and add a new edge to the art of animated storytelling. Tripura, one of the best-loved Amar Chitra Katha titles, is a story of Shiva, recounting an epic battle between Devas and Asuras over their kingdom of the three cities.
Announcing the partnership, Samir Patil, CEO, ACK Media said 'We were keen on developing a new look for ACK films and Chetan's earlier work and passion for creating distinctive animation rooted in Indian art styles convinced that they were the right partners. We are looking forward to the television premiere of Tripura on kids' favourite channel in India-, Cartoon Network '
Monica Tata, Vice President and Deputy General Manager, Entertainment Networks, South Asia, Turner International India Private Limited (TIIPL), said, "Cartoon Network has been championing the cause of promoting home-grown India animation and was the first kids channel to acquire Indian animation way back in 2001. We are delighted to be the home for the legendary tales of Amar Chitra Katha and yet again bring to life India's rich story telling heritage for kids to enjoy as much as a feast for parents who grew up reading the kathas. The classic and timeless story of Tripura will surely be loved by kids and adults alike."
Talking about the project, Chetan Sharma said,"Tripura has always been one of my favourite stories from the ACK canon, and this was a unique opportunity, not only to pay tribute to all the great artists that inspired me.. who were my first teachers in drawing.. but to reinvent the mythological film from an animated storytelling point of view, not just by jazzing up its exteriors, but instead going deeper, back to the sources, exploring its rich layers of meaning. This film is a distillation of my thoughts and beliefs about animation and mythology in animation and I hope it will be an entertainment that is a logical heir to the rich heritage of ACK''
