can we maintain our democracy?
By Dr. Udai Narain Sinha
India is known for its past values. It is also known for its standing values of the sacrifices of revolutionarists who got it free from the hands of allians. They gave it a democratic setup thinking that if not more within ten years of it being declared republic i.e. 1950 it will kiss those heights to which our freedom fighters aspired for but it has not happend. The democracy is gone into the hands of those who can make a big line of votes and they can do anything, they want to do. such is the case for scheduled casts, scheduled tribes. Their reservation was at first introduced with a thinking that with
in ten years of time they would be at shoulder to shoulder with normals but it is still an idle dream even though we have passed through fifty six years of India being declared a democratic State. Reservation, Gandhi and petty politics have become an arm for so called Indian leaders to grab the throne by sketching a bigger line of votes. Unfortunately the judicial system which was established as a guard to protect has become so much expensive and corrupt that it is difficult to be in reach of a common man. The highest honoured posts are occupied by the persons who can take a bag of the respective political parties not by those who are meritorious. It is for this reason that Dr. Dinesh Sharma of Lucknow University could occupy the post of a Mayore only by flattering his political masters of Bhartiya Janata party. So is the case of Governors of the States. What to say to a very high post a common talented person can not become a corporator on his or her merit but unless he or she justifies him or his merits by holding the bag of the respective political masters. The functioning of judiciary is also with questionmarks. A simple example of this kind may be given as under:-
Lucknow is decorated with an old institution Mahila Maha Vidyalaya at Maulavi Ganj. It is run by a society. There was a conflict going on with management and president of the society since long. It was under trials and trials and ultimately by the selfish approaches, the college was suffering. Ultimately, in July 2006 Supreme Court of India said that till the disposal of the case, the election of the society be held by Registrar of Societies. It was done so on around July 20 2006.
However, one of the party which is now a victorious one claimed that some of the members are denied to vote who are actually the members of the College of the Society. The Supreme Court of India is known to have passed words in favour of the applicant and previous election's result without being declared, a new election processed, thus ceasing the rights of those who stood in the election of July 2006 as per direction of the same Court. According to the Constitution of the society of the college duly registered by registrar of societies, membership can be determined only by managing committee not by the president. However, this very fact was denied and the registrar and even the court did not care to see it because these have to feed someone\'s whim to grab the power.
This is one example but there are many to be added to this end. This is because of the same we see the ugly voilence of this November 17.2006 in Uttar Pradesh which in spirit India hate for. The presentation of naked truth is not our idea because it is our thinking that unless some suggestion is there the writing of this kind is fruiteless. It is therefore, in this presentation it is suggested that 1. there should be a change in Societies registration Act that no two blood relation shall
be allowed to hold the post, 2. there should be an amendment of the same kind in people\'s representation act of India that no two blood relatives shall be allowed to hold the post of a legislature from down to up and finally 3. there should be an assessment from the side of the His Excellency, the Honourable President of India for Judiciary and their functioning and his findings to be presented in the Parliament for debate and he should also summon from the Government the data of poverty, reasons for not being able to make shoulder to shoulder to reservation classes and the justification of the expenditure to have been made in this regard and his own assessment to be submitted to the parliament for debate and also the change in application for filing nomination for election by a common man instead of the present decided rates but on older rates of 500 Rupees, so that common man of grass root of India could become the Prime Minister of India.
Why we have made our last recommendation for the Presidet of India instead of Prime Minister of India is because Indian Presidents till date have only presented ideals before the masses and to safe guard democracy in whatever manner they have never used their ambitions. Sir, media is I feel can change much what is going on in the Country because otherwise in favour or anti reservation slogun are raised to serve the aspiration of grabbing the power not by sacrificial thinking the country to be decorated.
It is hoped that our feelings shall have some place.
