The legends we make
Elvis... and there was rock! Black Sabbath and there was Metal, Maiden, and there was better metal!! SO WHAT!? Metallica brought it to the fore in the late 80s and 90s. Metal was never at the top (Top 25s, billboard etc), the only time it was with Metallica & Megadeth (1 & 2) respectively. The legendary Sabbath & Maiden were never there. So does this prove Metallica and ‘Deth
are better than Maiden and Sabbath?? Or even vice versa?
There are quite a few bands (if not many), who can surpass the legends: Kurt Cobain of Nirvana for example. Nirvana single handedly removed the occurrence of Metal or plain old Rock n' Roll from the musical landscape, breeding more bands in the Grunge scene. This would have continued had Cobain been alive. The perverse thoughts and the blasphemies by these "New"
(Whats new?) bands, is never an aspect, only the music matters! Some don't enjoy Cannibal Corpse or other Deathsters, but then again some don’t enjoy Linkin’ Park either. These are individual tastes.
Trey Azagthoth is not in the league of Jimmy Page, etc., but he is in a different league altogether. His Guitar licks and the riffs are the stuff nightmares (not dreams) are made of. Now that is something you don’t get even from Joe Sat!!!
There are quite a few bands and genres that sound good if not the same as Classical Metal - Thrash is aggressive, Doom is really great (Anathema, Green Carnation being some bands), man, this can go on... Metal is all about expressing ones feelings – if its done through different genres so be it.
Long gone (dead?) people are "LEGENDS" because they are old, imagine the new breed after 25 years, you will get the idea,
Young bands are not recognized or legendary and neither is their music, so there, that is the only reason why they can't surpass the so called legends (we, are / were the ones who make / made them legends!!!!)
