Rise and shine you Rockers! 

I visited a rock show the other day. The young band there played some unforgettable Iron Maiden numbers. The Rock-a-maniac crowd chanted, “Mai-den – Mai-den – Mai-den” tirelessly. 

But, there is a flip side to that chant “Mai-den – Mai-den”. Its time people take music to the next level. The likes of Maiden and Sabbath, Floyd and Led Zepp have done their work. In fact they gave us ground-breaking stuff which has endured for decades. That chant is actually a cry of despair that we won’t be hearing such music again. It is time we all wake up. Don’t drop the torch lit by the legends. Throw away your reasons. Throw away your laziness. Break away from the shackles that are binding your dormant energy inside your guts. Release them. Rise and create a new world order in rock music. 

The major road block in terms of quality of music is that some bands misuse the concept of rock genre and come out with irrational ideas (but at least they have made an effort to express their point of view!!!!). Maiden and Sabbath have cut deep and that is the reason their music has survived. But we need to take it to the next level; otherwise as the laws of Newton and Descartes have become insufficient to explain the phenomenon that exists in the quantum world which led to the birth of quantum mechanics, the music also needs new thinking and pave way for evolution. By ‘evolve’ I mean a creating something unique from a blank slate (Aspiring musicians find it difficult to avoid imitation which results in mediocre stuff). Keep the past in the past. Create something new. Don’t reinvent the wheel. Thanks to the legends for the good work they have done. Don’t waste time dwelling in their music. It has reached its summit. Does it ring a bell? Look upon yourselves and realize that you are no less than Bruce or Ozzy.

Don’t frame their photos on the wall. Keep them on par. Man is not what he is but what he can be. Don’t sit alone and criticize the direction music has taken today. Whoever is out there playing their stuff, they are realizing their dreams and desires. So why don’t you do so too? I may sound harsh but it really is incomprehensible to me why is there so much of a cynical and resigned attitude among rock music lovers and rockers today. They feel music cannot go beyond Maiden and Sabbath. Come on! Give me a break! How many aspiring bands are going to die like that? Really a dumb way to die actually...
