Australia Asia Young Leaders

by WD TEAM

Indian Merchants’ Chamber had organized an Interactive Meeting with the Australia Asia Young Leaders delegation on prospects for India Australia Business Cooperation.

A delegation of about 25 young leaders from Australia and several from India participated in an open discussion at IMC, India. It included the consul general of Australia. The leaders were on a tour of India to understand and explore trade and business potentials between the two countries. Currently there are 30 export destinations for India in Australia in the areas such as; agriculture, mining, infrastructure, environment, etc. The new areas that are underway or need further initiatives are: Education, Healthcare, IT, Biotech, Environment, Media and Entertainment.

As per Mr. Andrew Ethel, Chairman of Australia Asia young leaders’ program, the first process was to learn and understand the ongoing process in India. One of the several things they learnt was that India is a miracle country that despite shortcomings, diverse cultures have come up strongly. Secondly, there was going to be a change in lifestyles in India. Skill shortage is one of the major grouse areas in Australia.

The Indian delegate’s team was headed by Mr. Jeenendra Bhandari, former chairman, young leaders’ forum. They discussed various issues of taxes, retail and agriculture scenario in the country, giving tips and explaining the system prevailing in India. The Australian delegate was truly satisfied in their visit to India and such visits only enhance the strong business ties and major business interactions between the two countries.
